Partnership with the Sgt. York Foundation in Pall Mall, Tennessee

At the April 4th meeting in Cookeville Tennessee, members and officers agreed to explore a partnership between the Upper Cumberland Arts Alliance and the Sgt. York Foundation.  This will start with a cultural arts and heritage arts festival planned for this May 7th in Pall Mall.  This is an exciting opportunity for visitors and residents to explore the living, interactive display and site of Sgt. York, the only World War I hero.  Remember, this famous fellow was portrayed by another famous fellow, Gary Cooper, in the movie of the same name.  It is easy to see why Sgt. York did not want to leave his beautiful countryside after your visit to the area.  Future partnership direction will include gallery representation by various Tennessee artists and craftspeople with quality offerings along with educational venues.  Director of the York Foundation, Claudia Johnson, states "That in keeping with the wishes of the York family and foundation, this partnership will continue the tradition of education and arts appreciation in the region."  Be sure to check out this great tourist treat on your travels thru the backroads of the Upper Cumberland in Tennessee this summer.  For more information, visit: http://www.sgtyork.org/
